Looking at these three pictures you can see the same plant in different places.
- To the right is a plant that was sent in to be babysat. First, two leaves are very yellow and the top two leaves are beginning to show some yellowing- not good. Our guess is the roots will be bad too.
- Directly below you can see the roots after we removed it from the pot and removed the medium from the roots. To the untrained eye, those roots might look ok.
- After washing the roots, the ones that are rotten will just slip off in your fingers, leaving only a "thread." We then cut off those "threads" and the picture to your bottom right shows all that is left of the root system. It has two medium short roots and several stubs of roots. Because of the bad leaves and bad roots, the prognosis for this babysitter to be successful is very slim; therefore, we will not babysit this orchid.
